[personal profile] stepnix posting in [community profile] newcomers
hello!

now that Cohost has hit read-only for real I gotta get my act together and figure out how to find new people, communities, etc. If anyone has recs for places to find...

Mecha anime
Magical girl anime
Tokusatsu
History of genre/fiction
TTRPGs and the design thereof
weird freeware or micro-indie video games

Please let me know! got some tips from friends already, but anything helps.

Hi there! I'm into mecha anime and tokusatsu as well. To talk about these interests, I'd suggest creating a discussion post in the relevant communities and find potential friends among those who leave a comment.

Thank you!

I'm really glad to see established users on here pitching in with suggestions. That helps a lot.

You're welcome and thanks also!

Feeling flattered since I don't really see myself as established with how I pop in and out of the general Dreamwidth community depending on how fannish I'm feeling 😂

I've noticed that many new users, even those mature in fannish years, are unfamiliar with journalling platforms so I agree that it really does help to make suggestions even for practises that many DW users take for granted as obvious ways to be active on the site.

If you've been here for a few months or more, then you are ahead of all those folks who just joined in September or October.

Exactly. Each platform is a bit different, so it takes time to learn the tools.

Yeah, I've had people ask very basic questions about making posts or using communities. I'm trying to cover as much as I can on [community profile] newcomers but one person can only do so much. Fortunately a handful of other folks are pitching in, so that helps spread out the workload.
