This post is especially for those folks coming to Dreamwidth from Tumblr, who may wish to reconnect with other people they know from that venue.
Tumblr is at risk of malfunction or collapse, although nothing is definitive yet.
If you are leaving, it's a good idea to make a farewell post on Tumblr NOW while you still can. Tell people where else to find you online, whether your blog is moving or closing, and any other important details.
If you want to preserve your Tumblr content, one thing you can do is save your farewell post, profile, or other pages using Wayback, Ghost, or other archive sites. This helps you and your friends remember what it looked like before it disappears. If you have art or fiction on Tumblr, you may want to consider sites that specialize in those materials. Many people are copying their Tumblr content to Dreamwidth too.
Use this post to tell folks that you are on Dreamwidth, what your Tumblr account was, and who you're looking for here that you knew back there. You can use the template in a comment below, on your blog, or anywhere else you find it useful. This one is shorter than the more detailed "Introduction / Friending Meme" is.

What was your Tumblr account / blog(s)?
What kind of content did you post there? Will you be posting the same here?
What are some other online platforms where people can find you now?
Who were some of your Tumblr friends that you hope to find on Dreamwidth or elsenet?
Do you have anything else important to share that will help networking?
